How to: Make Your Clothes and Shoes White Again

White clothing; you can't go wrong with it. It brightens up any outfit, it compliments a tan and it pretty much goes with everything. However, what do you do when your favourite white top (or every single white top I own in my case) starts going that dingy, old-looking, unattractive grey?!

Well, I have come across THE MOST amazing, life saving product in the last few weeks and have ended up using it on every single white item in a my wardrobe... oh, and my shoe collection.

So, I wanted to share it with you all so you can add a little life back into your white items of clothing.

How I Used It

When using it, I read the instructions on the container thoroughly and then decided I knew best ( the student who has washed her clothes probably 6 times in her life) and pretty much did exactly what I felt was right!

- I put a rather overfilled capsule of the powder in the spinner AND in the usual compartment (not sure what it is called) of the washing machine. Though this may seem a little extreme, all my whites were so gloomy and drab before that I felt I had nothing to lose and hey presto, they came out perfect.

- I used normal washing detergent to accompany the white wash as I wanted my clothes to smell extra delightful.

- I set the washing machine to 90 degrees - apologies to any global warming I may have contributed to by doing this but I felt it was a one-off necessary! Be warned however, such a high temperature may shrink your clothes but ironing them afterwards will stretch them back out.

- When washing my vans, I washed them twice. After the first wash, only the shoelaces had whitened. However after the second spin they came out pristine.

What I Used It With

This photo really does not do them justice. There is such a huge difference between the muddy, stained vans that they were before and what the look like now! Except for the various tears due to having them for so many years, they look hardly worn.

- Vans
- All-Star converse
- Cotton tops
- Polyester tops
- Jeans
- Sweaters
- Cotton duvet cover and pillow cases

I have quite literally, washed everything white in my wardrobe with it. I have yet to investigate how it will react with more delicates such as chiffon tops and knitted jumpers but when I am courageous enough to try these, I will let you all know how it turns out.
